Kids need
a place to stash their stuff, from day one until they grow out of the
"toy" stage. Uhmmm ... that might be longer than you think. An older
child or teen will use their treasured old toy chest to store countless collections of
stuff they will gather over the years, at home, in dorm rooms and when
they move into their own homes.

Always buy the best you can afford and you won't have to replace a broken, beat up piece of furniture that cannot withstand the rigors of childhood. I learned this the hard way ... the "inexpensive" wall unit and dresser we bought for our daughters' room both fell apart within 5 years. The expensive dresser that was given to my older daughter by her grandmother when she was born is still standing, the drawers still glide perfectly and it has withstood endless abuse for more than 18 years.
