Parenting & Family Link(s) of the Week:
Sleepy Time!
Oh boy ... enough to make you crazy, huh? Kids can be their most adorably manipulative at bedtime. My younger daughter could be two steps short of falling over from fatigue but mention "bedtime" and she's suddenly NOT sleepy. Yep, power struggle to the max.
We have always had a bedtime routine at our house. This worked beautifully with my older daughter. I never did have nighttime woes with her. But, as we know, kids are all different. My younger daughter loves our bedtime routine, she just tries to draw it out interminably!
Here's what we do at bedtime: After bath, jammies and teeth brushing, we settle down in bed, read a bedtime story then talk about "our" day. "Talking about our day" has always been my favorite time with my kids. They've been known to share events, triumphs and less favorable incidents with me. If they've had a particularly trying episode of life that day, we'll look for ways to deal with it more effectively the next time "it" happens. Some nights, we end up discussing plans and dreams. Either way it goes, we've spent a very close, 10 minutes or so of time together. They feel connected, secure and relieved of the burdens of a child's life. I definitely believe our nighttime routine has helped my kids sleep better (once they finally GO to sleep) and created a trusting bond between us. Now, we just need to get past the "stalling" part of bedtime!
This first article has excellent advice on bedtime battles, how to deal with them effectively and take control of the situation. They actually work! Bedtime Blues
Here is another brief article about bedtime struggles: Bedtime
For those with infants, arriving at the "sleep-through-the-night" stage is a struggle all its own. Here's a wonderful article on newborn sleeping patterns, what to reasonably expect and how to deal: Sleeping Patterns
This next link is to a great site with many articles on sleep issues of very young babies and toddlers. You will also find many good articles on feeding issues here: Food and Sleep
These articles have helped me tremendously. I hope they work for you, too! Good luck! -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yep, this site is indeed fabulous! So many wonderful pages of recipes, tips, tricks, ideas, interviews with celebrity chefs and more. There are excellent pages for Easter cooking, traditions and the best ideas on what to do with leftover Easter eggs.

Kid's Site of the Week:
This site is so awesome, even I ended up liking bugs after a tour through these wonderfully colorful and interesting pages! Trust me ... I have a serious problem with bugs ... especially spiders, but this site had me clicking from one page to the next, oooing and ahhing at each speckled, hairy, multi-legged creature.
Kids will love looking at up-close photographs of their favorite icky insects! There are underside shots and informative facts on each bug. This would be a great site to explore with your children, especially if you're insect-intolerant! Ya know ... face your fears, walk on the wild side ... live a little! LOL! ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tip or Trick of the Week:
"Hydrogen Peroxide"
Read this somewhere lately but can't remember the source. it's a great a tip and thank you to whoever posted it somewhere recently! :-) Hydrogen peroxide removes blood stains from clothing and fabrics. Soak the stain and rub until dissolved. Also works well on grease stains. If you're ambitious, you could try hydrogen peroxide on other stains, too. Be sure to let us know what works, OK? :-)
Word of caution: Do NOT let Hydrogen Peroxide soak for too long as it will eat the fabric.
Got a tip or trick your fellow readers would enjoy or could use? Please send it here for possible publication in one of the next issues: TIPS

Weekly Time Waster:
Because life is supposed to be fun!
Heh heh heh ... that's my "evil" laugh. LOL! I love slots! Send me to Vegas and I'm a happy gal. If I WIN in Vegas, I've reached new heights of ecstasy! This little slot machine page is so fun. Just click on the "arm" and spin to win. Kinda like being in Vegas or Atlantic City but so much more affordable! Have fun! Feed the kids first ...
